The Police were an English rock band strongly influenced by reggae, jazz and punk rock. They were originally formed in 1977 in London by Stewart Copeland – drums, Gordon Sumner, better known as Sting – bass guitar and lead vocals, Andy Summers - guitar, vocals and Henry Padovani – guitar. The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and are generally regarded as one of the first New Wave groups to achieve mainstream success. The Police have sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, and became the world's highest-earning musicians in 2008, thanks to their reunion tour. The Police have won a number of music awards throughout their career, including six Grammy Awards, two Brit Awards, winning Best British Group once, an MTV Video Music Award, and in 2003 were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The group were disbanded in 1984 but have occasionally regrouped. Sting began a solo career in 1985.

Well, someone told me yesterday
C         G                              Am      F
That when you throw your love away
C     G                 Am            F
You act as if you just don´t care,
C      G                        Am                F
You look as if you´re going somewhere.
C G Am F…
But I just can´t convince myself,
I couldn´t live with no one else
And I can only play that part
And sit and nurse my broken heart. So lonely!

For a thousand years or maybe more.
All made up and nowhere to go,
Welcome to this one man show.

Just take a seat, they´re always free,
No surprise, no mystery.
In this theatre that I call my soul
I always play the starring role. So lonely!
